One of the Bulgarians arrested in our country for the desecration of the Memorial of the Holocaust in Paris, was released yesterday on bail of BGN 5,000, according to a statement from the prosecutor's office.
The man was detained on July 25 on the basis of a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Prosecutor's Office in the city of Paris, Republic of France.
Yesterday, the magistrates in our country received a Bulgarian translation of the European arrest warrant. The public prosecutor on duty has submitted a request to the Sofia City Court to issue a measure of mandatory detention. The court ordered a monetary guarantee in the amount of BGN 5,000.
Two more Bulgarians were detained in the case - one on the territory of the country and another in another EU country.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against them for participation in an organized criminal group, destruction and damage to other people's property after prior collusion with other persons for ethnic, racial and religious reasons. The case concerns the painting of 35 red hands on a wall of the “Memorial de la Chois“ (Mémorial de la Shoah), as well as buildings in the 4th and 5th arrondissements in the city of Paris, Republic of France. The European Arrest Warrant states that the image of red hands is linked to the killing of Israeli soldiers in 2000 in Ramallah.
