Official Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev proposes to introduce a separation of the flows of heavy goods vehicles into two flows at our border points - the first for those from member states of the European Union, and the second for TIRs from third countries. The idea was discussed at today's meeting of the prime minister and relevant ministers with transport branch organizations. The idea is to ease traffic on the "Danube Bridge" 1 and 2, where the problem with long queues has existed for years, commented the prime minister, quoted by BNR.
"This separation of the flows of "Member States" and "third parties" it should be done from further away, because, especially for heavy trucks, once they line up in a row, it is already too late to separate them, but at least we can do something - a first step. In fact, the biggest relief will be land Schengen, but while we wait for it, at least something, some relief, let's do.
On August 8, a new meeting will be held with the responsible institutions and representatives of the transport industry in order to clarify the details of the idea of separating the heavy goods traffic. Romanian ambassador Brandusha Ioana Predescu will also be introduced to her.
On Friday, Glavchev will visit the "Ruse-Giurgevo" border crossing point to see first-hand the situation with the passage of heavy goods vehicles. He will also check the repair of the Bulgarian section of the bridge, which began on July 10.
