Financier: We have money in the state, but we spend it on elections - 1

Unfortunately, we are going to elections again. We have money in the state, but the question is how wisely we spend it for the next election.

This was stated by financial analyst Preslav Raykov in the studio of "The Day ON AIR".

"Elections are not such a big expense, rather other important things in the budget. We need to raise the issue of the budget that is being formed for the year 2025. I hope we don't resort to an update because the economy doesn't suggest it. Once again, we need to focus on the priorities that for the last three or four years we have omitted from every single government that ruled", Raikov told Bulgaria ON AIR.

One of the main problems that the financial analyst highlighted is the inflated administrative costs and the use of the budget for political purposes, especially during election campaigns. This leads to the creation of an even greater administrative dependence of the economy on the state. Raykov believes that it is necessary to build stable economic and business systems that are independent of political changes and management.

Rajkov also emphasized the importance of the role of the finance minister, especially in the context of the caretaker government. According to him, the minister must have a clear vision and a firm hand to manage the budget in a way that does not allow for political influence and waste of funds.

According to Raikov, Bulgaria still does not have a clear economic strategy to guide the country's long-term development. He called for a cross-party economic strategy to focus on capital spending and infrastructure investment. This could stimulate economic growth and increase Bulgaria's competitiveness on the international stage.

The interlocutor pointed to the existence of "black holes" in the Bulgarian economy, which are related to inefficiently managed state enterprises.

"As an economy seeking to enter the Eurozone, to effectively join Schengen, to enter the OECD, we should not allow ourselves to have such big black holes because when in year two we are effectively in these three main segments, this thing will slow down and steal from our potential", commented the guest.
