It dates from the 2nd-3rd century, and some details on it suggest that it is more likely from the second century, the archaeologist from the Regional History Museum in Varna, Alexander Minchev, announced to BNT, who specified that all checks for its authenticity were finished.

The sarcophagus is made of shell limestone. According to him, it can be assumed that the ancient artifact was made on the territory of today's Bulgaria.

From the outside, the sarcophagus was painted with facade yellowish paint. As it turned out, it was used as a table in a restaurant. The purpose of the painting, according to the expert, was to look like a copy, not an original.
