Roadblocks in the country because of the lack of water. A large protest closed the main Asenovgrad - Smolyan road, warned "Nova TV". The reason is that the Rhodope village of Pavelsko has no water. Its residents stopped traffic, crossing the footpath in protest.
A drastic regime has been imposed in the village since the beginning of the month. The water is shut off for eight hours during the day and eight hours at night. People claim that there is a problem with the water main, which was built 40 years ago. It is in poor condition, leading to frequent accidents.
The municipality of Chepelare specified that they have an approved and prepared project for the construction of a new main water supply system. It is worth BGN 7.5 million and has been approved by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, but is still waiting for funding.
In case the problem is not solved, the residents will continue with the protests.
Residents of Svishtovo villages suffering from water shortages also organized a road blockade. They closed the main road Pleven - Ruse near the village of Gorna Studena. The people of Hadjidimitrovo, Gorna Studena, Kozlovets and Morava insist on finding a permanent solution to normalize the water supply.
The lack of water also drove dozens of residents of Kocherinovo Municipality to a second protest this week, BNR reports.
They blocked the only road to the Rila Monastery at the fork to the village of Stob.
Although the traffic in both directions was opened every 5-10 minutes and regulated by the police, some of the commuters got into an argument with some of the people blocking the road.
Local people are unhappy that since Friday evening most households are without water.
