Gaitansky: I did not do what I am accused of, but the truth takes time and will be proven in court - 1

Rumen Gaitanski sent a letter to the media through his lawyer Konstantin Simeonov, BNT reports.

At the end of August, a panel of the Sofia Court of Appeal decided that the businessman should remain in custody. Gaitanski is accused of being the instigator of the investigation into a BGN 148.5 million loan granted by the Bulgarian Development Bank and was detained by a prosecutor's measure for up to 72 hours after he voluntarily surrendered to the law enforcement authorities.
"I don't see anything other than the current political situation that could cause the accusation against me and other people that this action was held in the month of August. Reporters swarming to show pictures of garages where cars I own were sent by people who don't want to be identified or named who are running this trumped-up story against me, the businessman said. p>

In the letter, Gaitanski reaffirms that he had no intention of going into hiding after learning of the charges against him. "I was shocked, surprised and no less amazed how, in order to create a spectacle, cars that had nothing to do with the charge were raided and seized, he wrote.

"Since the day I was accused and detained, my family and I have endured daily insulting qualifications and tendentious lies that have nothing to do with reality, but are seeking spectacle. (...) I did not do what they accuse me of, but the truth takes time and will be proven in court," Gaitanski adds in his letter.
He also points out that many of the claims in the media are "obviously seeking spectacle and sensationalism".

"A huge and irreparable injustice has been caused to me and my family, which will not be able to be repaired in any way", concludes Gaitansky.

In the case, the former executive director of BBR Stoyan Mavrodiev and Ivan Georgiev, a representative of the company "Rodway Construction", which received the loan, are also accused.

Stoyan Mavrodiev was declared a national wanted person by a decree of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
