GERB submits proposals to change the garbage fee for municipalities, which limits the excessive raising of the tax. The aim is to refine the procedures, since in its current version the fee would jump from three to five times for the different municipalities. The postponement will give the cadastre, GRAO, local authority the opportunity to clear the problematic texts and coordinate.

This was reported by BNT.

"We are proposing a change related to clearances under the Waste Management Act. You know that these funds are currently collected by the municipalities and are accordingly transferred to the Regional Inspectorate for the Environment and Water. Municipalities cannot use and operate with these funds all year round. What we are proposing is that this resource should practically remain in the municipal administrations, that they should use these funds," noted the deputy chairman of the parliamentary group, Temenuzka Petkova.

At the briefing, it became clear that GERB will register on September 11 for the October elections.

"GERB made changes to the Law on Local Taxes and Fees, at the request of the National Association of Municipalities and as Boyko Borisov promised, which postpones the entry into force of the new regulation on the formation of garbage fees by 1 year. The aim is to refine the procedures, since in its current version the fee would jump from three to five times for the different municipalities. The postponement will give the cadastre, GRAO, the local authority the opportunity to clean up the problematic texts and coordinate", said Nikolay Nankov from GERB.
