Elections are coming, and it is interesting in DPS and BSP. Who will pursue what at the vote… The municipal councilor from "Blue Bulgaria" spoke to FAKTI. Prof. Vili Lilkov.

- Mr. Lilkov, who beat whom in DPS. How do you see what is happening there?
- Unfortunately, there is one word that can characterize all that is happening in the DPS – decay And it most likely won't end anytime soon, because the antagonism between the two groups currently at war won't be definitively answered anytime soon. The two parties in DPS will continue to fight for both the DPS brand and influence, all of which will lead to boredom and I expect a lot of the more reasonable and unemotional DPS voters to turn away. This process in DPS - although unexpected, is logical. From the moment Delyan Peevski began to play a key role, a second center of power was created in this party, which until now was headed only by Ahmed Dogan.

- DPS promoted Delyan Peevski for many years, and now they accuse him and talk about values. Today we see that the time has come separately for DPS…
- Look, the DPS were very satisfied with the role they had assigned to Delyan Peevski, namely to expand the party's influence in those areas where they naturally have no presence. We are talking about the North-West, about the Pomacha regions of the country. It can definitely be said that Peevski created party structures, this led to an increase in the results of the DPS, but with this his influence in the party was also strengthened. It is no coincidence that the discord came precisely from the people around Ahmed Dogan. They realized that they no longer dominated the party. The people around Dogan saw their influence threatened and howled. Otherwise, it was convenient for them in DPS that Delyan Peevski finances elections, builds structures, brings dividends, and people around Dogan reap the fruits. Yes, now the time has come to divide the DPS and everyone will get their part of the bill.

- Crisis in DPS, interesting processes in BSP – does that make the upcoming election different?
- Interesting processes have been going on in the BSP for a long time, but we can say that only now we are already visibly observing this disintegration, which was actually happening in the BSP for years. We just didn't comment on it, but there was a very serious division of camps. And the upcoming elections brought this problem to light. I don't know how the BSP will develop from here on, but in general, all these processes that we are commenting on are not good for our political situation, as well as for the country as a whole.

- Do discords in two of the main parties give smaller parties a chance to enter parliament?
- Probably – yes, there is such a possibility. But, in my opinion, this is the place to talk about the unification of parties, but on the basis of values, in order to have a stable government. What has been happening in recent years is that we are seeing a steady breakdown of the political system, and that is not good for the country. We see that we have reached a point where we are glad that a caretaker government is being created. We are currently making it difficult to have a caretaker government, but what is left for a regular cabinet and stable management. And this is exactly what is needed for the country at the moment.

- Are we hearing anything about the political conversation in Bulgaria? The parties somehow look within themselves…
- A political conversation can be held between politicians, but it is also good for the conversation to be held between professionals in order to make sense of it. And what we observe in the political parties is a lack of serious leadership - with very few exceptions, a lack of clear political ideas. Today, the conversations are reduced to a very low level of politics, and it is very difficult for me to talk about professionalism at all. This is the result of years of mass voting by voters for populist parties, for populist policies and politicians. By saying this, I want to emphasize that the fault lies not only with the political parties and their low quality, but also with the voters who encouraged populists to enter Bulgarian politics in these last years. Of course, there was the other way around – politicians who behaved seriously, who took political responsibility paid a very heavy price for undertaking reforms, for taking unpopular decisions at certain times, which turned out to be good in the long run. So here the blame for this whole situation is shared between voters and between political parties.

- What is the chance of forming a cabinet after these elections, given what is happening now?
- After all, the election campaign is now starting. Hopefully, it will reduce the degree of tension and winter insults between the parties. Look how far we have come - today it is assumed that the one who produced the most incriminating material against his opponent is right. Yes, the latest campaigns are nothing but slanderous campaigns, nothing about politics is heard in them. And this is precisely the meaning of the appearance of “Blue Bulgaria” in this election, in which we will once again be talking about policies. I want to remind that the campaign of “Blue Sofia“ in the primary election – the locals were the best, we had a competent speech and I invite the voters to pay attention to exactly this - to the policy, to the vision and to people who can deal with this situation. Politics is not a job for amateurs, it is not a job for people who are yet to enter politics to practice. Politics is the work of people who know what it is about and know how to solve people's problems.
