Chairman of the DPS and of the PG of the DPS Delyan Peevski demanded the immediate resignation of the commander of the Air Force Gen. Dimitar Petrov and the head of Graf Ignatievo Air Base, Gen. Nikolay Rusev after the incident at the Graf Ignatievo Air Base today, in which two Bulgarian pilots died.
Peevski expressed his condolences to the relatives of the pilots killed in today's plane crash at the "Graf Ignatievo" airbase.
"The news of the tragic accident involving the L-39 military training aircraft and the loss of human life darkened today.
I express my deepest condolences to the relatives of the pilots who died," he wrote.
Peevski called on Air Force Commander Major General Dimitar Petrov and Brigadier General Nikolay Rusev, Commander of the 3rd Graf Ignatievo Air Base to immediately resign from their posts.
According to his position, "they should take responsibility for the tragedy, and the competent investigative bodies should establish the causes of this serious accident and the culprits, in order to reach the tragic accident and the loss of human lives".
The commander of the Bulgarian Air Force – Major General Dimitar Petrov announced that the dead were Major Petko Dimitrov Dimitrov and Senior Lieutenant Vencislav Atanasov Dunkin.
