New indictment for the accident with Lyutvi Mestan, in which in April In 2019, a six-month-old baby died, it was brought to the District Court in Kardzhali.
Accused for the child's death are his father, Yusein Ahmed, who was driving the family car on the day of the accident, as well as former politician Lutvi Mestan. The two are accused of causing death by negligence.

The process has been going on for several years. In November 2023, a third injunction hearing was held in the case due to the retirement of the then judge.
The judicial panel then terminated the court case and sent it back for removal of material procedural violations admitted at the pre-trial phase, which led to limitation of the procedural rights of the accused. Then the state prosecution submitted a protest, which was not respected.
The case is scheduled for consideration in an administrative hearing for 04.11.2024 at 10:00 a.m.
BTA recalls that the incident took place on April 14, 2019 on the main road to the border point “Makaza” at the intersection for the village of Zagorsko between two cars – one run by the ex-politician and the other by the dead baby's father. Both drivers are to blame for the accident, for causing death due to negligence, under conditions of independent contributory negligence.
The scheduled disposition session will be consecutive. The last one was in May, when the court panel terminated the court proceedings and returned it to the prosecutor for the removal of committed material procedural violations that led to the limitation of the procedural rights of the accused. And at the end of September 2023. there was a restart of the case with a new panel after the judge on it retired.
