We have left our children in the clutches of evil, and we are talking about independence. This is what the constitutional judge and university professor Prof. Atanas Semov told bTV on the occasion of Independence Day and the meaning of education.

„We are a people of welcome. The Bulgarian always sits on the doorstep with bread and colorful salt and waits for someone to come to free him, to create rules for him, to fix him, to give him the self-confidence that he is next to the strong and the great, he explained.

According to the university teacher, education is somewhere in the basement of the “house” of our society – somewhere “between the cellar and the woodshed”. “In modern Bulgarian society, education is not placed in a central place in the living room – next to or rather in front of the TV”, he explained.

The constitutional judge defined the transition as a failure precisely because of the underestimation of education. He also spoke about the media as the first person, urging journalists to pay attention to the illegal sale of alcohol and cigarettes to children.

„Students today can buy cigarettes and alcohol from shops located meters from the school entrance. They can also buy drugs two blocks from the school. This is a huge problem that continues to be underestimated, Prof. Semov also pointed out.

University professor thinks vapes in children's pockets are scarier “explosive devices” from the pagers of “Hezbollah”. According to him, addictions to alcohol, cigarettes and drugs are bombs that rumble worse and are at the root of the demographic crisis.

„We are a society chained by addictions”, Prof. Semov is categorical and added that “the ram that leads them is to blame for the road the sheep walk on”.
