„When we were making the structures, Dogan was drinking his whiskey in Sofia. DPS does not belong to Peevski, Atalay or Dogan.“ This was commented by Mehmed Dikme, a former member of the DPS and Minister of Agriculture in the government of Simeon of Saxe-Coburg.
He added that there are two factors that depend on whether the two factions will enter the parliament.
„One is the voter turnout, the other is the attitude in Turkey. But I want to point out that Dogan cannot do without DPS, he is nothing without DPS. And DPS can do without it. A circle of career people remained, you will see them in the lists. If Dogan has not been able to help society for 30 years - how will he do it now. How many people founded DPS, now they are gone”, Dikme also said.
According to him, Ahmed Dogan is the personification of DPS, but reforming the “movement for rights and freedoms” is important at this time.
„Who is the lesser evil for our ethnic group, as if Peevski is the necessary evil for DPS, because he is the only one who can reform DPS”, he also said.
In the elections on October 27, Dogan's wing will appear under the name “Alliance for Rights and Freedoms” , and the abbreviation DPS remained, according to the court's decision, in Delyan Peevski's “DPS - New Beginning”.
Dikme explained that according to the statute, the DPS is what the court and CEC recognized, and these are the people around Delyan Peevski – this is the party”, he added.
„Dogan himself came out and said: our party has become clientelistic. And when you take money for, for example, someone to make him a representative of the people or to make him the mayor of a municipality - wasn't it a clientelistic party then, or now that you have no positions, for example? The party cannot be of one person and one person. The party is of the ethnicity, of the society at the moment. What the Central Election Commission recognized and what the Bulgarian court recognized. These are the people around Delyan Peevski”, Dikme said.
In recent months, a split occurred in the ranks of the DPS along the Delyan Peevski - Ahmed Dogan axis. Part of the parliamentary group supported the chairman of the party, and the other - the honorary chairman.
After that, the residences that Ahmed Dogan used for a long time - the so-called sheds in the “Rosenets” park. and in “Boyana”, were taken from him, and he disappeared from public space. There were also problems with the registration of the two wings of the DPS for the CEC elections.
In the end, the wing supporting the honorary chairman will vote with the "Alliance for Rights and Freedoms" coalition, and the group around Peevski will use the name "Movement for Rights and Freedoms - a new beginning".
