The lack of rainfall and aridity are cause for concern. The Stara Zagora Water and Sewerage Authority announced that they are developing new water sources, with the aim of not reaching a water regime in the regional city, Nova TV reported.
The condition of the large reservoirs in Central Bulgaria at the beginning of November is critical. The level of the "Koprinka" dam in Kazanlak is almost at a record low. It is only 6.5% of its total useful volume. The reservoir is primarily used for electricity generation and irrigation. At the moment, statistics show that it is filling up, but this is done with minimal amounts.
The other large dam is "Zrebchevo", which is at about 20% of its available useful volume. The lack of water worries farmers a lot.
"The problem is huge among farmers. And it is only with us, but also for all sectors. We all suffer for water. No rain, no snow, and all this has a huge impact. The problem is huge," said Hristina Cholpanova, a farmer.
