The CEO of Microsoft Corporation Satya Nadella did not rule out the risk of uncontrolled improvement of artificial intelligence (AI). "I do not deny the assumptions related to the potential uncontrolled growth of AI, its self-improvement," said the head of Microsoft in response to a question from a journalist from the French magazine Le Point whether AI will become conscious and can make decisions instead of people. In this regard, the businessman emphasized the need to lay the “foundation for responsible development” of technology.
According to Nadella, the term "artificial intelligence" not quite right. "I would prefer to say that we are creating a different kind of intelligence. We are not replacing it, but supplementing it”, added the head of the company.
According to filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Microsoft Corporation maintains a "long-term partnership" with generative artificial intelligence chatbot developer ChatGPT, OpenAI. The tech giant has invested $13 billion in the company's development and is now bringing OpenAI models to “consumer and enterprise products”.
In October, Masataka Osaki, vice president of Nvidia, an American company that competes with Microsoft, opined that AI in the future will take human form and perform real-world tasks. Billionaire and Microsoft founder Bill Gates has previously said that the potential threats posed by artificial intelligence put this technology on par with nuclear and biological weapons.
