Active work is underway to eliminate the accident on the newly laid pipeline in Lake Varna.
It was ruptured during excavation work and is currently leaking sewage. The company that undertook the repairs has until November 6 to repair the damage, the Varna municipality said.
"This is a stream of untreated waste water that flows into the waters of Lake Varna, the analyzes of the samples themselves will show the numbers. I don't think it will get to the state it was a few years ago. The accident is not that significant – it's not about a pipeline break," Yavor Dimitrov, director of the "Black Sea Region" Basin Directorate, explained to BNT.
The Pool Directorate takes daily samples from the site, and results are expected on Monday at the earliest.
