Sofia faces significant challenges in improving the transport infrastructure, especially in its peripheral areas. The lack of convenient and direct connections often makes traveling by private car the preferred choice, leading to additional traffic and pollution. The opening to traffic of the new Blvd. "Todor Kableshkov" allows us to significantly improve the transport service. There is a dedicated BUS lane along the entire length of the new boulevard, which will make the movement of public transport fast and convenient, according to "Save Sofia?".
We propose a new bus line 220, which would create a ring connection between 17 districts, 4 metro stations and 11 tram lines, without having to go through the central part of the city.
The eastern and southern districts of Sofia, such as "Levski", "Suhata reka", "Slatina" and "Student City", remain loosely connected both to each other and to other important parts of the city. Current urban transportation is predominantly downtown-oriented, requiring residents to change vehicles and travel through central areas to reach nearby neighborhoods. This situation leads to significant lost time and makes transport in these areas uncompetitive with the car.
Given these challenges, bus line 220 offers a real alternative to the current model. This new line will pass along the newly constructed sections of Blvd. “Todor Kableshkov“ and st. “Filip Kutev”, providing connections between neighborhoods in the east, south and west. The main connections that the line will make include major transport hubs, such as metro stations and busy boulevards, which have been difficult to access until now. Line 220 will connect the neighborhoods "Levski", "Sukhata Reka" and "Slatina" with the southern parts of Sofia, creating convenient access to main transport corridors, without the need to pass through the central part of the city.
The introduction of ring bus line 220 will offer new transport solutions for the residents of the peripheral neighborhoods in Sofia, responding to the needs of better connectivity, reduction of car traffic and relief in the central areas. This line will improve transport accessibility for thousands of residents and encourage more sustainable ways of getting around the city.
