Attacks against the elections and the legitimacy of the elected parliament so angered the leader of GERB-SDS Boyko Borisov that he issued an ultimatum to the presidency - to stop with such statements or the head of state Rumen Radev withdrew the decree to convene the National Assembly next Monday.
Borisov made the statement at the beginning of the GERB National Conference - a forum that brought together leading party members, deputies and mayors of the party.
"According to the presidential institution, the election of this parliament is illegitimate. This means that all the decisions that are made are illegitimate. It turns out that only the presidential elections are fair and transparent. But since they are illegitimate why would we gather to swear. Why was this day and time given?" asked Borisov, quoted by BNT.
It is clear to everyone that there will be new elections, the GERB leader said.
"Iotova should apologize or the president should withdraw the decree", he was categorical.
This means a fight between the authorities, said Borisov, and hence an even more severe political crisis. He stated that he believed he was running a legitimately elected party. He was categorical that he does not deviate from the figure of the Speaker of the National Assembly, which is fair to be from GERB.
At the National Assembly, GERB discusses the results of the elections and the future actions of the party. The regional coordinators of GERB, the newly elected national representatives and the mayors of municipalities, elected with the lists of GERB, participate in the forum.
After the extraordinary parliamentary elections on October 27, GERB-SDS is again the first political force and will have 69 deputies in the 51st parliament. After the vote, GERB leader Boyko Borisov said that he would make every effort for a regular government with a full mandate.
