Until late last night, 60 passengers were stranded on two trains at the Tsareva Livada (Gabrovo region) and Dabovo (Stara Zagora region) stations due to a problem with the contact network, the Bulgarian State Railways confirmed to BNT, BNT reported.
There were 15 people in one train, and more than 40 in the other, as the breakdown occurred between the Krastets and Raduntsi stations in the Balkan Mountains.
The attempt of BDZ to provide buses was unsuccessful, as the roads in the Balkans are also not cleaned.
The National Company "Railway Infrastructure" sent a team, which worked from 7:45 p.m. to restore voltage.
The weather conditions are very severe. Passengers were being fully assisted on site. Both stopped trains were expected to continue on their routes before midnight.
BDZ told BNT that there is power at both stations, so the trains are not without power.
