A signal for the explosion was given at 11.24. The incident occurred on "Rodina" street in a house located at number 13-15. One part of the house is completely destroyed. The twin of the house is also severely damaged. Immediately after receiving the signal, we took all measures and a safety operation is currently underway by our colleagues from the fire department. The fire is currently smoldering and our colleagues can work.
This was stated by the Head of the State Department of Internal Affairs, Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov, who gave the latest information about the explosion in Bankya.
"At the moment, we have no information about victims, but I do not rule out finding any. Most likely, the explosion is due to a failure of the gas installation in the house. We have taken all precautions so that other citizens are not harmed. I hope that we will soon finish the safety operation, put out the fire, measure the harmful gases and people will return to their homes. Rescue dogs will enter the field when we completely put out the fire," he also revealed.
Interior Minister Daniel Mitov is also at the scene of the incident, Novini.bg reported.
