MPS-DPS MPs Jeyhan Ibryamov and Mario Rangelov described their immunity requests as unfounded and staged, reports the Bulgarian National Radio.
Ibryamov rejected the claim that the parliament's refusal to remove his special protection is part of a deal to support the government:
"I will not grant immunity to staged events and certain individuals who want to be granted immunity on a whim. One thing is clear in the hall: the defenders of these performers are a certain political party and they fiercely defended that immunity should be voluntarily granted. There is absolutely no agreement to support any government".
Mario Rangelov explained the reasons for not voluntarily granting their immunities:
"The problem is that I don't trust this prosecutor general at all. I don't trust the way evidence was collected. I don't believe that there will be a fair trial for me and my colleague Jeyhan Ibryamov at the moment. This is the only reason".
