The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov assured the MPs that currently the government's priority is road safety and the program, which was adopted by the Council of Ministers for securing critical road sections, is being implemented strictly and on time. These 36 points that have been identified will be secured by the end of the month, as indicated in the deadline and on the website of the "Road Infrastructure" Agency, he said during the parliamentary control.
Ivanov pointed out that the regulatory framework does not specify a deadline for the restoration of damaged road restraint systems. The Roads Act is currently open, so you can take advantage of it as a legislative body to introduce some regulation in this regard, the Minister addressed the MPs. Such deadlines, according to the Minister, would be disciplining, motivating for all subsequent ministers of regional development and directors of the road agency in terms of deadlines.
Unfortunately, road accidents occur daily on the republican road network, the "Road Infrastructure" Agency assigns modern activities to replace compromised facilities, said the Minister and pointed out that priority is given to securing sections with high traffic intensity, with data on increased accident rates and in the presence of roadside hazards that pose a risk of a road accident if the vehicle leaves the road. Active work is being done on the program adopted by the government to secure Bulgarian roads and the priority is the replacement of all road restriction systems and vertical markings, the Minister stated.
