Over 2,000 people gathered in front of the municipality building in our seaside capital, NOVA reported. Then the procession reached the Courthouse in the city.
"I am feeling great excitement, seeing what enormous support Blago is receiving. Because this is the only thing we have at the moment. You see what madness is happening - there is nothing rational, nothing legal in what is happening," said Kamelia Kotseva, wife of Blagomir Kotsev.
"It is precisely against lawlessness that we are fighting and this must be stopped. That is why we are protesting here. And we will gather for a protest on Wednesday in Sofia", emphasized the chairman of the PP Asen Vassilev.
On Friday, the Sofia City Court left Kotsev and the other three detainees permanently in custody. They are accused of participating in a criminal group for bribery, official misconduct and money laundering, together with a currently unknown MP. So far, no request has been made to lift the immunity of a member of parliament and, accordingly, no one has been brought forward as a defendant in the pre-trial proceedings.
According to the court, at this stage there is evidence against the four detainees and if they are released, there is a risk that they will commit a crime.
At the same time, Svenija Hahn - the president of ALDE, the group in the European Parliament, which also includes "Continuing Change", requested a meeting with the EU Commissioner for Internal Order and Security. The reason - the situation surrounding the arrest of Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev.
