Maya Manolova was surprised by the vote of the BSP deputies in the election of ombudsman, who supported the GERB candidate Velislava Delcheva. She said this herself on the show "Oporni hora".
"With their 13 votes "for" the GERB candidate, "DPS - Novo nacholu" and ITN she gathered the votes in the first round. Otherwise, there would have been a runoff between her and me, and since the entire opposition had declared a vote against the GERB candidate, the result was certainly predictable. And most likely I would simply have won. It is offensive because this is the BSP group that is expected to support the social ombudsman, the person who protects citizens, the person who has stood up against monopolies, the person who has proven that he can be a real corrective to institutions and not succumb to pressure from the authorities. In crisis situations, a person in this position is needed who can protect citizens from the authorities, not the authorities from the citizens," the leader of "IZPRAVI SE.BG" commented to Bulgaria ON AIR.
Manolova also spoke about her proposal for an anti-speculation law, which will be submitted to parliament by the BSP, "Velicie" and MECH.
"In addition to the fact that food prices are rising dramatically, the prices of medicines are catching up with them. We have about a dozen reports of certain high blood pressure medications that have increased in price by 30% in the last two weeks alone. The last reports we received were about chicken, apples, onions, dairy products, including coffee, which has jumped twice, chocolates," Manolova listed.
"That's why people are afraid. It's not us, who show the real picture and offer solutions, who are creating panic. Panic is being created by state institutions and those in power, who are openly and brutally lying to people that everything is fine and there is no price increase," Manolova is categorical.
She admitted that she expects resistance from those potentially affected by the law.
"The retail chains, the pharmaceutical companies that earn huge amounts of money, including through health money - through the National Health Insurance Fund, will certainly jump, gas stations will jump, and mobile operators will jump. And the banks, which have raised their bank fees twice since the New Year and are profiting outrageously on the backs of people, will also surely jump. But someone needs to tell the truth and offer solutions,", Manolova believes.
