A new air separation plant will be built at the Aurubis plant in Bulgaria. It will be implemented in partnership with Air Liquide. The German company is investing nearly EUR 100 million in this and 4 other similar plants in Germany.
In Bulgaria, the new facility will replace older similar plants. The innovation will provide a larger amount of oxygen and nitrogen for the needs of the German production capacity in Chelopech. The plant will also produce argon. It will be exported to the company's industrial customers in a number of European countries.
The plans are for the plant to be put into operation in 2027. The calculations are made so that it consumes 7% less electricity than the installation it will be replaced with.
