The Holy Martyrs Trophimus and Theophilus suffered during the reign of Diocletian (reigned from 284 to 305 AD). Together with them, faithful servants and true slaves of Christ suffered - thirteen people in all.
After they refused to obey the order of the wicked torturer - they did not offer vile sacrifices to soulless idols - and did not want to deny Christ, they were hanged on a tree for torture; then the pagans began to scrape their bodies with sharp iron, and also threw stones at the martyrs; Finally, they struck their shins and threw them into the fire.
But the saints were preserved by the almighty power of God whole and unharmed in the flames and came out of the fire without suffering. Then the torturer, inflamed with fierce fury like the fire of Gehenna, ordered them all to be killed with the sword.
And the honest heads of the saints were cut off for the honor and glory of the Head of the whole Church - our Lord Jesus Christ.
