The icon with the holy miraculous relics of Nicephorus the Leprosy arrived first in Gabrovo on June 11 in the Assumption Church, dariknews.bg reported.
On Sunday in Veliko Tarnovo the shrine will be ceremonially exposed in the center of the “Nativity of the Virgin“ Cathedral. The relics are embedded in an icon with the image of the modern saint, whose ascension took place in 1964. The icon will remain all day on display in the temple for worship by the faithful, and at 6 p.m. I will be offered a prayer for health.
Saint Nicephorus is known to hear the prayers of the faithful very quickly and help people suffering from cancer, mental disorders, heart disease, addictions, mental problems, eye diseases, infertility, family discord and numerous other serious diseases.
Saint Nicephorus was born on the island of Crete in 1890. A 13-year-old fell ill with leprosy and suffered from this disease for 60 years. He spent his whole life in a hospital isolated from the world. In Greece he is called the secret saint, because his spiritual exploits were known to the few who knew him. His life was completely devoted to God – he is an example of patience, chastity, prayer, self-denial and love. He quietly carried his martyr's cross, although he did not shed a drop of blood.
A testimony of a miracle was shared years after the death of St. Nicephorus by his spiritual child, Father Eumenius. He cared for the blind and paralyzed saint from leprosy, and one night he wondered if he had turned off the stove in his hospital room. He rushed there, afraid of catching fire, but quietly opened the door. To his great astonishment, he saw the sufferer, who was in the air, a meter off the ground, levitating and falling into prayer.
