Specialists from the University of Pittsburgh (USA) created a chip that can receive energy from human blood and collect medical data, writes Advanced Materials.

According to doctors, the electrical conductivity of the blood is used to evaluate many health parameters. However, it is not always possible to obtain this data quickly.

The device measures about 30 by 60 millimeters. It uses blood as a conductive substance in an integrated triboelectric nanogenerator. The system can convert mechanical energy into electricity through triboelectrification.

In parallel with this process, the team analyzed the voltage generated by the device under predetermined loading conditions to determine the electrical conductivity of the blood. The experts compared the results obtained with a traditional test and confirmed that the chip allows the collection of accurate data.
