Australian scientists have developed bricks made from clay and waste and called them "energy smart". it says Construction and Building Materials.

Conventional bricks used in construction are fired at very high temperatures, releasing huge amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Smart bricks are created by mixing clay, glass waste and coal ash. According to experts, their firing requires a much lower temperature, also this building material retains heat in winter and does not overheat in hot weather.

Scientists have calculated that a temperature of 1,050 degrees is needed to bake ordinary bricks, and 950 degrees for smart bricks. The material also states that the savings will be tangible and the damage to the environment will be reduced if manufacturers produce 1.4 trillion of the new type of bricks per year.

According to experts, bricks have low thermal conductivity, so they retain heat in winter and prevent overheating in summer. Thanks to this, users will be able to save electricity for heating or cooling rooms. Also, the strength of the new bricks meets international standards.

In late June, Korean scientists developed a method of creating bricks from lunar regolith through microwave sintering. This method is similar to firing ceramics and involves raising the temperature of the raw materials to create solid building materials.
