Over 550 enthusiasts from all over the world took part in an unusual “race” in Copenhagen, NOVA reported.
They took part in a two-kilometer night swim through the canals in the center of the Danish capital.
Fluorescent buoys attached to more than 550 swimmers glowed in the water as the sun set over Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish parliament. The building was one of the attractions that could be seen along the route. Organizers had taken all precautions, with lifeguards and boats on standby to assist swimmers.
Night swimming is a social non-competitive event. It is part of the traditional “Swimming in Copenhagen” - a series of competitive and recreational swimming events held over two days in Copenhagen Harbour.
