In 1807, troops led by Mustafa Bayraktar invaded Constantinople (Istanbul) — grand vizier in the empire, says NOVA.
He is supported by Emin aga — leader of the Kardzhalia in southern Bulgaria, who managed to control and lead the robbers, protecting the Haskovo region from looting. It is curious that he was a confidant of the Ottoman power, as he was proclaimed by a sultan's firman in 1794 as Mutesalim of Haskoj (governor of Haskovo).
Because of his merits during the rebellion, Emin agha wants to be made an emini chest (state treasurer), but Mustafa Bayraktar rejects this wish. With his mercilessness and greed, the Knight orders his men to loot what they can, and so he leaves with 360 million gold groschi from the Sultan's treasury. A reward was announced for his head, and he returned to Haskovsko, where he continued his activities as the head of the Kardzhaliya, hiding the treasure in the village of Gidikli (near the present-day village of Garvanovo), where he lives.
