Whatmans from all over Europe gathered in Frankfurt, NOVA reported.
The occasion - the European Tram Driving Championship. The drivers demonstrated their skills – stopping, starting and reading signs, to the applause of a huge crowd of people gathered in the streets of the German city.
The Watmans operated trams owned by the local transport company VGF. Each team consisted of one two drivers – a man and a woman, as well as by a team coach provided by Frankfurt's public transport company. The mayor's office states that they hope to show through entertainment that public transport can be a modern service provider as well as an attractive employer.
This year the event marks its 11th edition. The competition has previously been hosted by various cities in Europe, including Hungary, Spain, Austria and Romania. This year, for the first time, Watmans from the Slovak capital Bratislava, the Scottish capital Edinburgh and the Finnish city Tampere took part.
