Five people have been charged in connection with the death of singer Liam Payne in Argentina, DPA and the BBC reported, citing authorities in the country, bTV reported.
Payne, who rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction, died at the age of 31 on October 16 after falling from a third-floor balcony of a Buenos Aires hotel.
Hotel manager Gilda Martin and receptionist Esteban Grassi, as well as Payne's friend Roger Nores, have been charged with involuntary manslaughter, Argentine prosecutors said.
Ezequiel Pereira, who also worked at the hotel, and waiter Brian Pais are accused of drug trafficking.
Three people were previously reported to have been charged in connection with the case, but their names were not released.
Under Argentina's legal system, prosecutors gather evidence and then present it to a judge, who must decide whether to proceed with the case.
According to a statement released by the prosecutors, Judge Laura Bruniard has already decided to move on to the next stage.
The defendants' lawyers can appeal the decision. If their appeals are unsuccessful, the trial phase will begin.
In court documents, Judge Bruniard listed the charges against the five suspects, who are identified by their initials, as is customary at this stage of the proceedings.
If convicted, the three accused of manslaughter could face sentences of between one and five years in prison. The penalty for drug supply is more severe, ranging from four to 15 years in prison.
In November, prosecutors announced that toxicology tests had found traces of alcohol, cocaine and a prescription antidepressant in Liam Payne's body.
The coroner's office determined the cause of his death to be "multiple trauma" and "internal and external bleeding" as a result of falling from the hotel balcony.
According to the prosecution, medical reports also showed that Payne may have fallen into a semi-conscious or fully unconscious state.
Liam Payne became one of the most recognizable names in pop music after appearing on a music show and rose to fame with One Direction in 2010, before the boy band split indefinitely in 2016.
The singer's funeral was held last month in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, BTA reported. His former One Direction colleagues Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik were among the mourners, along with Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy and his ex-partner Cheryl Tweedy, with whom he has a son.
