Making a million dollars in a year sounds impossible to most of us, but Mike Black – known as @mikeblack on Instagram and YouTube – decided to prove it can be done from scratch.

The self-made entrepreneur gave up his money, home and business contacts in a bold challenge he called the “Million Dollar Comeback“.

In July 2020, Black stepped away from everything he knew. He wanted to show that anyone can recover, even from absolute zero, inspired by friends who had lost their businesses and livelihoods during the pandemic.

From day one, he filmed his entire adventure. At first, he decided to sleep on benches. Then a stranger with a camper gave him temporary shelter. He tried to earn his first $300 by reselling furniture, then saved enough to buy a computer and provide himself with an office.

Despite these setbacks, he managed to earn $64,000 before his body finally gave out. With just two months left in the season, he ended the challenge prematurely.

In his latest update, Black thanked his followers for sticking with him through all his ups and downs.

The project didn't reach the million-dollar finish line, but it did reveal something more important: how quickly real life can change its priorities. For Black, family and health trump any social experiment.
