Kalina Androlova recalled from 2000: Gen. Atanasov - a Turkish man? - 1
FAKTI.BG publishes opinions with a wide range of perspectives to encourage constructive debates.

Newspaper "Monitor" of September 10, 2000, posed very interesting questions to the director of the National Security Service at that time, Atanas Atanasov. I bring them to your attention.

Recently, Gen. Atanasov is hysterical about the security services and especially military intelligence. The Bulgarian special services have been conducting intelligence activities on Russian territory for 30 years. Bulgarian intelligence does not send spies to Western Europe and the USA, only representatives of Bulgarian intelligence are sent there.

Unlike some countries – NATO members, who have personnel from their intelligence centers on the territory of their embassies in our country.

Then what exactly is Gen talking about? Atanasov?! Talks about replacing the chiefs of services with persons close to PP/DB! Talks about fragmenting the sector exactly in the style of PP/DB. Whatever they pick up, they grind it out of incompetence and square knowledge with a side of popcorn. Special services should be headed by personnel officers, not political figures!

For example gen. Atanasov is a lawyer and has never worked either as an intelligence officer or as a counter-intelligence officer.

A guy with no operational security experience is talking about cleaning services. Atanasov was attached to the services from outside during Kostov's time. But in the field of services general culture and general intelligence are not sufficient to replace practical experience. The leadership of the services is not just a passion for the use of SRS for party and personal needs.

If we still insist on a purge, the purge should start from the DSB, because the DSB is the legacy of the cadres from the perestroika. The transition was orchestrated. But let's not pick up that old topic again with the creation of the blue opposition in Bulgaria, with the chief personnel officer, who is no longer among the living, and with the selection of personnel to camouflage the then "change".

At the time of communism, we remember that there was a merger of party and state

and in the same way, the BKP appointed party cadres to its offices outside of purely professional selection.

The aim was to ensure the loyalty of the services to the party. And now, the Yellow Flags are trying their best to achieve something similar. This is what they call reform! In fact, it is a return to the old that is so well known to gen. Atanasov - political control. But let's go back to the "Monitor" newspaper. twenty years ago...
