Driver or medic, teacher, social worker, engineer, etc. - who is more responsible? This question was started by ordinary people, ordinary workers, because… Yes, because they simply looked at their own salaries. And what did it turn out - they studied for years, endured the hardships of their profession (everyone has them), bore their responsibility at work, but they cannot even hope for sharp increases in their salaries. We do not raise the question at all of what happens in the private sector when you do not go to work for 1,2,3,4 or X days because the unions tell you “don't go“.
It is more than clear – YOU ARE FIRED! Why… Because they earn their living, and not given out of the municipal budget on the principle of “except for 400 leva we don't accept anything else“!? Why are there no unions in the private sector? There's simply no one to tolerate them. You don't like the salary – you leave, and the world around you offers many new challenges. But according to qualifications and skills, and not in principle, because you are on a budget.
It is clear that drivers are wound up like mechanical toys, to repeat the same thing. They think they are irreplaceable, but they are not. And I hope Mayor Terziev makes it so that they understand it. That is, to start firing. When they are left with nothing, they will think about whether they can get about 3,000 elsewhere to turn the wheel. They may also ask the unions to pay their salary if they are fired. They pay union dues. So money… maybe there is?
The “stupid” unions are trumpeting that industries should not be opposed. On the contrary! Now is the time to see who brings what to society. Drivers against doctors, against nurses, maybe against teachers, maybe against the lack of staff in kindergartens, maybe against engineers, against the IT sector even… It could go on like this for a long time.
Now the question arises whether Mayor Vasil Terziev will save all high school graduates because they need transportation to take their matriculation exams. The matriculation exam is not just an exam for the student. The whole family is involved in this exam. This is how hatred for those drivers is born. Hatred for the neighbor in the block who is a driver in public transport. Because the stubbornness of the transport industry is clearly visible. The clash is guaranteed.
What kind of situation are we in
All this chaos shows something else. Lessons can and should be learned from the situation that has arisen, new possible solutions can be seen. The Ministry of Education can launch more buses, because quite a few schools use them. The Metropolitan can double the number of trains, and private lines of carriers can get more routes. Will anyone dare to block them? Hardly, because they will be swept away!
Sofia is in crisis!
The current protest situation, which is obviously being done out of stubbornness, may turn out to be a very good start for something new, for something that will really become useful for Sofia residents.
People are organized, they see a problem and are looking for a solution. They don't want to, but they find a way to get out of the situation. Even if there is no transport for a few more days, it will be bearable. People will get through this too. They are already organizing in the neighborhoods how to get to work. Shared travel is flourishing, not to mention taxis - they are profitable and a "golden" month is looming. We have already written it once, but let's repeat it. Mayor Terziev should call in the military.
There are ready drivers with professional licenses. They get on the buses and leave. Trolleys and trams can wait. Buses can also run on their routes. This goes, of course, with LAYOFFS. Layoffs mean hunger for people without a high educational qualification. They will spend a year on the stock exchange with good money, but after that they will have to dream of a 3,000 leva salary for holding the steering wheel. The mayor is on the move. Let's hope he has character!
