Michel Platini, former UEFA chief, sharply criticized FIFA, calling it a "real mafia". The French official said that the organization acted deliberately to "… ruin my reputation", topsport.bg reports.
"FIFA is a real mafia if everything is in the hands of the same people. They decided to destroy me, but they failed. Football does not belong to FIFA or UEFA, it belongs to the people. "The goal is simply to fill the stadiums," Platini told Italian publication Il Dubbio.
Platini led UEFA between 2007 and 2015, when he was banned from football for eight years by FIFA's Ethics Committee on corruption charges.
In 2022, a Swiss court acquitted him of fraud and mismanagement, giving Platini full judicial rehabilitation.
