Dimitar Kuzmanov qualified for the second round of the men's clay tennis tournament of the "Challenger" series in Zagreb (Croatia) with a prize fund of 91,250 euros, FOCUS reported.
Qualifier Kuzmanov began with a victory in the main draw over Viktor Durasovic (Norway) with 6:4, 7:5. The match lasted 2 hours and 16 minutes.
The Bulgarian squandered a 3:1 lead, but managed to achieve another break in the ninth game on his way to success in the first set. The second half developed in a similar way. Miko missed an early lead, but made a key break for 6:5, then closed the match on his own serve on his third opportunity.
Kuzmanov earned 10 points for the world ranking, in which he occupies 269th place, and for a place in the quarterfinals he will meet Luca Van Asch (France) for the first time in his career. The 20-year-old Van Asch is 211th in the ATP rankings at the moment, but in October 2023 he reached the 63rd position. He is a former No. 1 in the world junior rankings.
