Donnarumma apologizes to Musiala after horrific injury (VIDEO) - 1

A serious incident marred the quarter-final of the Club World Cup between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, after Jamal Musiala broke his ankle in a violent collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Bayern player was carried out on a stretcher at the end of the first half, and the footage of the incident shocked the football world, reports gong.bg.

While trying to reach the ball near the touchline, Musiala was squeezed between defender Willian Pacho and Donnarumma, who came out to clear the ball. In an effort to protect his goal, the Italian goalkeeper lunged forward but inadvertently trapped Musiala's leg, which twisted under his body.

The 26-year-old Donnarumma was caught on camera with tears streaming down his face as he tried to cover his face with his gloves. Teammates and PSG staff tried to comfort him as he came to terms with what had happened.

After the match, Donnarumma posted a touching message on Instagram: “All my prayers and good wishes are with you, Jamal Musiala.“

Although PSG qualified for the semi-finals, the result was overshadowed by the horrific incident. The Parisians will face Real Madrid in the semi-finals (on June 8), who beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2. In the other semi-final, Chelsea will meet the Brazilian team Fluminense.
