Musk sends artificial intelligence into orbit - 1

Elon Musk has decided to bring one of his most ambitious and controversial projects back to life - the Dojo supercomputer. After the team was disbanded last year and resources - redirected to autopilot chips, the billionaire has now announced a grand reboot. The third generation, known as Dojo3, is already in active development. The reason for this return? The design of the new AI5 automotive processor is finally “in good shape”, allowing engineers to look up from the asphalt and aim straight at the clouds... or rather – in space.

At the heart of this digital fortress lies Tesla’s massive need for computing power to train neural networks. Dojo was designed to “digest” unimaginable amounts of video data coming from the millions of electric cars on the road and turn it into intelligence for the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. In 2025, Musk was skeptical that the company could develop two parallel architectures, but today the strategy is radically different. There is already talk of an unprecedented 9-month innovation cycle that will take us through the AI6, AI7 generations and beyond.

To secure its rear, Tesla has made a colossal deal with Samsung worth $ 16.5 billion. The South Korean giant will manufacture the AI6 chips at its new factory in Texas, while Intel will likely take on the role of a partner in the complex packaging of the Dojo modules. These processors will be the brains not only of cars, but also of humanoid robots Optimus, which, according to Musk, will soon become the main revenue driver for the company.

But the most extravagant part of the plan “Dojo3“ sounds like something out of an Arthur C. Clarke novel. Musk launches the concept of orbital data centers. The idea is to turn Dojo into a “space supercomputer“ that uses continuous solar energy and low temperatures in outer space for cooling. Although skeptics immediately described this as another PR stunt, for Elon it is a logical step towards creating a planetary AI infrastructure that does not depend on Earth's power grids.
