They refer to an expert in detailing and dry cleaning named James Taylor, who owns a luxury car wash. The specialist notes that the most dirt accumulates on... the steering wheel.
Since the steering wheel is constantly held with hands that are not always clean, dirt, sweat and many harmful microorganisms accumulate on it. At the same time, it may look clean in appearance.
The concentration of bacteria there is huge - hundreds of them per square centimeter. So, the steering wheel of a car is dirtier than a mobile phone, a computer keyboard or even a toilet bowl in a public toilet.
The problem is that during a car wash, too little attention is paid to the steering wheel, and it needs to be cleaned regularly. James Taylor says that he once washed and thoroughly cleaned an expensive Bentley: at first glance the car looked perfect, but its steering wheel turned out to be extremely dirty.
“You can't go a week without washing your hands. But drivers don't wipe the surface they touch every day for months, “ said James Taylor.
