Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that the Russian Oreshnik missile system is already on its way to the country, Nexta reports, Focus reports.
“By the end of the year, these weapons will be deployed in Belarus. ‘Oreshnik’ will be on Belarusian soil“, Lukashenko said in his speech on July 1 on the occasion of Independence Day.
According to him, the system will be deployed as close as possible to the borders with Poland and Lithuania. Although “Oreshnik“ is not a nuclear weapon, its widespread use is comparable in effectiveness to a nuclear strike, but without the risk of radioactive contamination.
The complex is capable of carrying both nuclear and conventional warheads, has a range of 5,500 kilometers and can hit targets at speeds up to Mach 10.
