The lower house of the German parliament, the Bundestag, has broken its record for the longest sitting of the current legislative period, DPA reported, BTA reported.
The plenary session, which began at 09:00 yesterday morning, ended at 01:42 today, when Bundestag Deputy Speaker Omid Nouripour finally brought the session to a close.
The previous record, set in June, ended at 00:29 at night.
The session that began yesterday morning was extended after the parliamentary group of the far-right party "Alternative for Germany" requested a quorum check around midnight.
For the Bundestag's decisions to be considered legitimate, more than 50% of the 630 lawmakers must be present in the chamber.
A roll call showed that enough deputies were present to pass changes to the law on medicinal products used in veterinary medicine.
