Thanks to active diplomacy, it is entirely realistic to finalize the steps needed to determine how to end the war with dignity in the coming days, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening video address, quoted by Ukrinform.
According to him, the Ukrainian delegation is expected to be in the United States today, American time, where the dialogue will continue based on the points discussed in Geneva.
"Diplomacy remains active. The American side has demonstrated a constructive approach, and in the coming days it is possible to clarify the steps to determine how to bring the war to a dignified end," Zelensky said.
"The Ukrainian delegation has the necessary guidelines, and I expect the guys to work in accordance with clear Ukrainian priorities," he noted.
As previously reported, Zelensky changed the composition of the delegation for negotiations with the United States and other international partners, as well as with representatives of Russia regarding peace. It is now headed by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov.
Zelensky also approved new directives for the Ukrainian delegation participating in the negotiation process with the United States and other international partners, as well as with representatives of Russia, to achieve a just and lasting peace.
Umerov, as the head of the Ukrainian delegation, has already left for peace talks in the United States with his team, Ukrinform recalls.
At least one person was killed and 11 people, including a child, were injured in a drone attack last night near Kiev, authorities reported, quoted by Agence France-Presse.
Mykola Kalashnik, head of the military administration in the Kiev region, reported on "Telegram" that "an enemy attack on Vyshgorod killed one person and wounded 11 people, six of whom were housed in hospital". He said this was a new offensive by Russian drones after attacks throughout the previous night on several districts of the Ukrainian capital.
Rescuers evacuate residents of a multi-storey building hit by an enemy strike. The fire that broke out is still being extinguished. The number of victims may increase, Kalashnik warned, quoted by Ukrinform.
"Medics and psychologists are working on the scene. All necessary assistance is being provided," he added.
