"We can define 2025 as a year of unfulfilled hopes for Ukraine". This opinion was expressed by former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Milen Keremedchiev to bTV, quoted by news.bg
The points for peace in Ukraine do not have a convergence of positions. What is happening in Ukraine is a worrying trend, he pointed out.
According to him, the goal in 2026 is for Russia to not stop the fighting in Ukraine. On the other hand, Ukraine marked 2025 with the lowest funding from all countries that support the Ukrainian state, Keremedchiev added.
He noted that there was no serious breakthrough, but the decline in support could put Ukraine in a very difficult situation. "The likelihood that the European Union and European countries will increase their support for Ukraine is obvious. Europe gave more funds to Ukraine in 2025 than the United States and this trend will continue. Europe has given about 300-350 billion euros in the last 3 years to Ukraine," Keremedchiev reported.
He added that Donald Trump's plan for peace in Ukraine has stalled and pointed out that the pendulum is swinging and peace in Ukraine is still far away.
Keremedchiev expects 2026 to be hot in the Gaza Strip as well.
