The transit of Russian oil to Eastern Europe via the Ukrainian section of the Druzhba pipeline has been halted since January 27 due to a Russian attack. This was announced today by the Russian Foreign Ministry, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
"This is the infrastructure of the Druzhba pipeline, which is burning after the last targeted Russian strike on January 27, which halted oil transit", Foreign Minister Andriy Sibikha said in a post on the "Ex" social network, which also included photos of firefighters amid flames.
Ukrainian oil and gas company "Naftogaz" announced on January 27 January that Russia had attacked its facility in eastern Ukraine, but did not specify which one. Representatives of the authorities in the city of Brody also warned the population of the risk of pollution from burning oil products. The city is the point where the "Druzhba" meets the "Brody-Odessa" oil pipeline, built to connect the main facility to oil terminals on the Black Sea.
The strike is a rare example of an attack by Russian forces on an oil pipeline through which Russia exports crude to Europe. Ukraine has also repeatedly attacked the section of the "Druzhba" on Russian territory, causing a halt to oil supplies and provoking protests from Hungary and Slovakia.
According to Sibiha, Hungary is preparing a complaint over the problems with the transit of Russian oil via the "Druzhba".
