Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen plans to meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the Munich Security Conference to discuss the semi-autonomous Danish territory of Greenland, Frederiksen said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
Meanwhile, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lun Poulsen announced that Denmark would provide four F-35 fighter jets for NATO's “Arctic Watch“ mission.
The alliance on Wednesday announced the start of the mission to boost its presence in the Arctic as part of efforts to quell tensions sparked by US President Donald Trump's push for the US to take control of Greenland from Denmark.
“Our contribution with the F-35 strengthens the overall presence in the region and underlines Denmark's role as an active ally in the Arctic and the North Atlantic,“ Poulsen said in a statement.
He also said he expected the US to contribute to the NATO mission.
