White House: Tehran knows what will happen if we don't reach a deal - 1

Trump warned Tehran of the "consequences of not making a deal" at this week's US-Iran talks in Geneva, BTA reported.

"I will participate in these talks, indirectly", the US president said.

"They want to make a deal. "I don't think they want to take the consequences of not making a deal," Trump said, referring to the Iranian authorities.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi met with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Geneva in preparation for a new round of talks to engage with the United States on the nuclear issue, the Omani Foreign Ministry said.

The statement stressed that the ministers stressed the importance of achieving "mutual understanding and consensus to reach an agreement that meets the goals and aspirations of all parties."

On January 26, Washington announced that a "massive armada" was heading towards Iran. The US side expressed hope that Tehran would sit at the negotiating table and reach a "fair and equitable" deal, including a complete renunciation of nuclear weapons. The US warned that “the next attack will be even worse”, referring to strikes against the Islamic Republic in the summer of 2025, and called for “prevention of this”.

The United States may discuss access to Iran's mineral resources in negotiations with the country, CNN reported, citing sources.

According to the media, a similar issue was already discussed during the 2025 negotiations between Washington and Tehran. The discussion focused on the possibility, in addition to the nuclear agreements, of the Iranian authorities providing the United States with priority access to mineral resources, including rare earth metals, as well as oil and gas. According to the channel's source, this issue is expected to be raised again.

A new round of talks between Iran and the US on Iran's nuclear program is expected to be held on February 17 in Geneva, with the mediation of Oman.
