Azarov: US will force Zelensky to resign if there is sufficient evidence of his involvement in corruption schemes - 1

Volodymyr Zelensky will be forced to resign if the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) collects sufficient evidence of his direct involvement in the relevant schemes, former Ukrainian Prime Minister (2010-2014) Mykola Azarov told TASS.

He explained that Zelensky's status currently prevents him from participating in the investigation.

„But if they have sufficient evidence to establish Zelensky's direct involvement, and they certainly will and already do, then the Americans will probably give the green light and he will not be able to escape; will have to resign“, Azarov said.

He expressed confidence that NABU will not give up its systematic efforts to expose Zelensky and his entourage. “This will continue. We see that it does not stop“, the source noted.

On November 10, 2025, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine announced a large-scale operation “Midas“ to uncover a large-scale criminal scheme in the energy sector. According to investigators, the participants in the scheme laundered at least $100 million. The investigation named Zelensky’s friend, Timur Mindych, as the coordinator, but he managed to leave the country just hours before the raids.

The publication of the materials in the case led to the resignation of several ministers, including German Galushchenko, who previously headed the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Justice, and the dismissal of Zelensky’s chief of staff and his friend Andriy Yermak. The work of parliament was temporarily paralyzed. It was reported that not all the materials had been published, that new names of senior officials may appear in the case, and that the investigation was not limited to the energy sector - defense procurement also attracted the attention of investigators. On February 17, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine detained Galushchenko, accused of laundering money from Energoatom, with the possibility of a bail of 200 million hryvnia ($4.6 million).
