Ukraine: Only a few buildings in Kupyansk are under Russian control - 1

Only a few buildings remain under the control of Russian forces in the city of Kupyansk in Ukraine's Kharkiv region, with several dozen soldiers in them, Ukrinform reported, citing a Ukrainian army spokesman, BTA reported.

„If we talk about the percentage of the territory that is still under Russian control, it does not even reach 3%. We are talking about literally a few buildings where Russian troops are located... They are just trying to survive in these buildings. This is all they are capable of at the moment. And since there are only a few dozen, this is not a fighting force. These are people who are trapped and trying to survive,” the spokesman said.

He added that to the north and east of Kupyansk, including on the other bank of the Oskil River, Russian forces were continuing their attempts to advance, but without significant success.

He also noted that most of the city of Vovchansk was currently under Russian control, although Ukrainian forces maintained a presence in the south.

Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with dozens of attack drones, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles, with the country’s energy infrastructure being the main target, Ukrainian armed forces and local authorities said, as quoted by Reuters.

The attacks hit Kiev and the region around the capital, the Black Sea port city of Odessa, as well as parts of central Ukraine. At least one person was injured in the Kiev region. Damage was caused in five districts, where more than ten residential buildings were damaged, the regional governor of the region Mykola Kalashnik reported on "Telegram".

According to the chairman of the Odessa regional military administration, Oleg Kiper, the nighttime drone attack on the region's energy infrastructure caused fires that were later extinguished.

In the city of Lviv in northwestern Ukraine, explosions killed a policewoman and injured at least 15 people, the city's mayor reported.
