Protests in Jerusalem continue VIDEO - 1

Thousands of Israelis came out for the fourth consecutive day of demonstration against the government and to demand an agreement to release the hostages held in the Gaza Strip, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

Israeli media reported that demonstrators gathered last night with torches in their hands near the parliament building in Jerusalem. They also demanded new elections. In her speech, the mother of a kidnapped man accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of obstructing the conclusion of an agreement to release the hostages.

For his part, the prime minister has rejected the criticism and recently insisted that he felt obliged to return all the hostages home. On the other hand, a new election would paralyze the negotiations for the release of more hostages and "would lead to the end of the war before the goals are achieved," Netanyahu believes.

Israel estimates that almost 100 hostages held by "Hamas" are still alive.

Large anti-government demonstrations have been taking place in Jerusalem since Sunday, and within the framework of the multi-day protest campaign, the protesters pitched 100 tents in front of the parliament.

On Saturday, people also protested against Netanyahu's rule in Tel Aviv, Haifa and other cities. Relatives of the hostages accuse him of not having a serious interest in securing the release of Israelis held by "Hamas" in the Gaza Strip.
